“LE PROMESSE” racconta di una madre che prende coscienza in modo definitivo delle responsabilità insite nel proprio ruolo. Teme di non aver saputo educare bene la propria figlia, arrivata troppo presto, e teme che ella stessa possa giungere impreparata alle prime esperienze sessuali e viverle male: “accettare fra le gambe un dono - per dimenticarne subito l'odore - nascondere con un sorriso - un particolare modo di soffrire” canta la prima strofa della canzone.
Promette quindi di dedicarsi giorno dopo giorno a ricostruire un rapporto costruttivo con lei, basandosi su un'idea di bene e femminilità, cercando di darle il meglio anche se la vita a volte sarà amara. Oltre alle prime esperienze sessuali c'è il timore di una gravidanza prematura anche per la figlia e in generale di tutti i rischi della precocità e dell'inadeguatezza mascherata con le conseguenze che la madre ha sperimentato su di sè. E’ una canzone sul senso di responsabilità e l'ammissione di colpa.
Il brano è estratto dall’album “I MORALISTI” secondo lavoro della band milanese uscito nel 2010 su etichetta EMI MUSIC.
L’album contiene un'analisi in musica sviluppata attraverso dieci personaggi reali, nati tra il 1950 e il 1980 (il periodo compreso fra la nascita degli autori e dei genitori), descritti secondo un canone che si ricollega all'impianto del Neorealismo e al cinema inchiesta di Elio Petri, Antonioni, Rosi, Lizzani, Pietrangeli e Sorrentino.
I protagonisti de “I MORALISTI” sono quindi le persone, a volte personaggi storici, a volte protagonisti di cronaca, a volte archetipi di storie comuni: il "bandito moralista" Enrico Depedis, una ragazza omosessuale suicida, una madre colma di sensi di colpa, un sacerdote attratto da un ragazzo, un anziano emarginato considerato un pazzo visionario. Il disco si chiude con la title track "I Moralisti", omaggio ai "Comizi D'Amore" di Pier Paolo Pasolini, in cui i bambini recitano i versi del poeta Sandro Penna , diventando la polarità positiva del disco: la vita, innanzitutto, non è che un susseguirsi di gioia e pena. Dal punto di vista stilistico, " I MORALISTI " è un disco completamente suonato con strumenti analogici.
La band milanese, dopo l’uscita dell’album, è stata impegnata in un tour di oltre 50 date che ha toccato le città di tutta Italia e si è imposta all’attenzione del grande pubblico e dei media riscuotendo numerose critiche positive.
