Album - “deep music from the depth of soul” – Marat Shibaev alias Martin Schulte E’ tartaro, vive a Kazan, nel mezzo del nulla della repubblica del Tatarstan. Giovanissimo (ha 22 anni), si è scelto un nome tedesco (all’anagrafe di Kazan risulta infatti come Marat Shibaev),
come per pagare tributo a quella scuola di Berlino e dintorni che ha sicuramente marchiato il suo percorso artistico.
Già, perché ascoltando Silent Stars si capisce molto bene quanto Marat guardi dritto in faccia a Chain Reaction, Basic Channel, alla scuola del clicks’n’cuts che evaporò la techno ormai una decina di anni fa.
Tutto questo viene riveduto e corretto da una “cameretta con vista” su uno scenario inusuale (mille anni luce lontano da quello di Berlino), con grande gusto per la “profondità” dei bassi e dei tappeti sonori, una propensione al dub che viene magistralmente applicato a ritmi uptempo mai martellanti, sempre vicini a un concetto di astrazione caro alla scuola clicks’n’cuts e ai tipi di Basic Channel.
Non male per un “twentysomething” che a 22 anni vanta già una discografia impressionante (quattro album, decine e decine di remix, apparizioni su compilation in tutto il mondo).
