Intervista – Alla faccia di che pensa che la Sicilia produca solo disoccupati e dipendenti della regione (con due erre e due gi), Riccardo Simoncelli si rivela un artista completo e sull’orlo di una crisi di… album!

D: Hai tanti anni di esperienza in campo musicale, collaborazioni eccellenti, produzioni di alto livello, cosa manca per "completare" il tuo curriculum?

R: Manca "il cambiamento" e forse anche un po’ di fortuna. Manca ciò che doni completezza ad un artista che per una vita fa mille sacrifici per investire, migliorarsi e operare al massimo nel complicato e trafficato settore della musica.

D: Hai scritto (testi e musica) numerosissimi singoli, perchè non racchiuderli in un album?

R: Un primo album lo coniai nel lontano '95. Era una produzione indipendente e non sortì alcun effetto perchè non ci fu la spinta giusta per lanciarlo. Adesso sto lavorando sodo per realizzare tutto questo partendo dalle mie conoscenze e sfruttando al massimo le mie capacità di cantante, creatore, arrangiatore, ingegnere del suono; il mio intento è quello di realizzare un disco fatto da me, dove incamerare tutte le fatiche di una vita e fare in modo che tutto ciò possa arrivare concretamente al pubblico.

D: Come è la vita di un musicista in Sicilia?

R: La vita del musicista siciliano ed in particolar modo la mia non è male, ma non è di sicuro il massimo; si sa bene che al Sud il mondo dello spettacolo in generale e nello specifico quello della musica è tagliato fuori da ogni gioco; non ci sono le produzioni, nè i grossi giri professionali. Si suona, per mia fortuna, molto nei locali e nei club, ma le prospettive per raggiungere dei traguardi di più ampio rilievo non trovano alcun riscontro reale, motivo per il quale, pur amando la mia terra, mi sposto di continuo nelle zone "calde" dell' Italia dove ci sono più possibilità di contatti importanti.

R: Cosa ti aiuta nella stesura dei testi?

D: Non c'è una cosa in particolare che mi aiuta a scrivere: nasce tutto in modo un po’ casuale. Mi capita spesso di prendere la chitarra e, con molta naturalezza, elaborare un motivo che traduco in parole senza starci troppo a riflettere.

Faccio tutto istintivamente: credo che la prima idea che ti viene in mente sia sempre la migliore!

D: Cosa ti aspetti dal futuro, musicalmente parlando?

R: Ad esser sinceri il futuro da un punto di vista musicale non è proprio roseo; la musica oggi è diversa da un tempo. L'avvento della tecnologia ha scardinato dogmi sacri su cui era impostata la cultura della fruizione musicale; da un lato c'è la crisi della discografia che produce sempre meno e non scommette più su nuovi e soprattutto "validi" talenti. Dall'altro c'è la televisione attorno a cui ruota tutto ed è inutile discutere circa alcuni programmi definiti "Talent Show" che propinano uno stereotipo di cantante o artista, lungi dall' essere un modello concreto e veritiero. Si da spazio a gente che desta attenzione per un handicap o per un look trasgressivo piuttosto che per il valore e l'abilità dello stesso.

La figura dell' artista che comunica attraverso i testi, la musica, non esiste più. Ma io, indipendentemente da questo, proseguo sulla mia strada e con molta fiducia, attendo il treno giusto.
